Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Lexcellent ("Lexcellent", "Service", "we", "us", "our"), operated by Individual Entrepreneur Anton Elizarev, Armenia, collects, uses, stores, and protects your information.
By using Lexcellent, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following information:
Account information:
- email address;
- password authentication data;
- Google account information if you sign in with Google;
- account settings and preferences.
Learning data:
- uploaded texts;
- words extracted from uploaded texts;
- translations and linguistic analysis results;
- words marked as known, learned, or in progress;
- study history and card review data;
- language settings and learning preferences.
Device and notification data:
- device identifiers;
- device type and platform;
- push notification tokens;
- notification and study interval settings;
- device activity status related to delivering study cards.
Payment-related data:
- subscription status;
- customer ID, subscription ID, transaction ID, and related payment metadata from Paddle or other payment providers;
- plan, renewal, cancellation, and refund status.
We do not collect or store full payment card numbers. Payment information is processed by the relevant payment provider.
2. Uploaded Texts
Lexcellent stores uploaded texts internally to provide text analysis, vocabulary tracking, and study features.
Uploaded texts are not made public and are not shared with other users. Full uploaded texts are not shown to other users. The Service may display short examples from your uploaded texts for individual words, and only to the account that uploaded the relevant text.
User data is kept separate between users. One user's uploaded texts, vocabulary, and study progress are not intentionally shared with other users.
3. How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- create and manage your account;
- authenticate you through email/password or Google sign-in;
- analyze uploaded texts into words;
- provide translations and linguistic information;
- create and deliver study cards;
- remember your known, learned, and active words;
- sync learning progress across devices;
- send notifications and study reminders;
- manage subscriptions and access to paid features;
- provide support and respond to requests;
- prevent abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access;
- comply with legal, tax, accounting, and security obligations.
4. Translation and Linguistic Processing
Lexcellent uses linguistic tools and datasets such as Stanza, spaCy, UniMorph, Wiktextract, and similar resources to process language data.
Lexcellent may send words, phrases, or analysis results derived from your uploaded texts to machine-translation providers (Google Translate, DeepL) in order to provide translations.
Translations, linguistic information, word forms, pronunciation-related information, and examples may be incomplete or inaccurate. You are responsible for checking the accuracy of language information before relying on it.
5. AI and Model Training
Lexcellent does not currently use AI models to generate learning content.
We do not use your uploaded texts or learning data to train AI models.
If this changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required, ask for your consent.
6. Third-Party Services
We use third-party service providers to operate Lexcellent, including:
- Supabase, for database, authentication, and backend services;
- Render.com, for hosting and server infrastructure;
- Google, for Google sign-in, Google Translate, and Firebase Cloud Messaging (delivery of push notifications to Android devices);
- DeepL, for machine translation of words and phrases from your uploaded texts;
- Apple Push Notification service, for delivery of push notifications to Apple devices;
- Resend, for sending transactional email (such as password recovery and feedback confirmations);
- Paddle, for subscription payments and billing.
These providers may process personal data as necessary to provide their services to us. Their processing is also subject to their own privacy policies and terms.
7. Payments
Payments are processed by Paddle or another payment provider. We do not store full payment card details.
We receive payment-related metadata such as customer ID, subscription ID, transaction ID, payment status, subscription status, renewal status, and refund status. We use this information to manage access to paid features.
Refunds and payment disputes may be handled by the payment provider according to its own rules and our Refund Policy.
8. Legal Bases for Processing
Where applicable data protection laws require a legal basis, we process your information based on:
- performance of a contract, to provide the Service you request;
- legitimate interests, to secure, maintain, and improve the Service;
- consent, where required for optional features or communications;
- legal obligations, where we must retain or process information for tax, accounting, compliance, or legal reasons.
9. Data Retention
We keep your information while your account is active or as long as needed to provide the Service.
If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we need to keep certain information for legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or compliance purposes.
10. Account Deletion and Your Rights
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at support@lexcellent.app or using any account deletion tools available in the Service.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- access your personal data;
- correct inaccurate data;
- delete your data;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- request a copy of your data;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- complain to a data protection authority.
We may need to verify your identity before processing such requests.
11. International Users and Data Transfers
Lexcellent may be used by users in different countries. Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your country of residence, including by our infrastructure and service providers.
Where required by applicable law, we take reasonable steps to protect international data transfers.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
However, no online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe.
13. Analytics and Tracking
Lexcellent does not currently use third-party analytics or advertising tracking tools.
If we add analytics, crash reporting, or similar tools in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy.
14. Children
Lexcellent is not intended for children under 16.
If you are under the age of majority in your country, you may use the Service only with consent from a parent or legal guardian.
If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child in violation of applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
15. Countries Where the Service Is Not Offered
We may restrict access to the Service in countries or regions where we are not able or not willing to provide the Service, including Russia and countries or regions subject to applicable sanctions.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as by posting the updated policy on our website or in the Service.
Your continued use of the Service after the updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you accept the updated policy.
